Description
Faith in Action of Western Stark County provides free transportation, friendly visitor and minor home repair services for the older adult residents of the greater Massillon community. Services are provided to persons over 65 years of age who still live in their homes, but can no longer drive. The goal is to help them continue to live independently in their homes as long as possible. Rides are provided for medical appointments, to the bank, barber/hairdresser, grocery shopping and other personal errands. Volunteers may also stop in to visit or make welfare phone calls to those seniors who live alone and are isolated. There is not a minimum hour requirement. Drivers set their own schedules. Drivers are not reimbursed for mileage, but gas cards are distributed periodically.
There is also an opportunity for volunteer administrative assistance in the office.
