Position Description
The central role of a Writing Center tutor is to provide academic support for students as they complete writing tasks.
The tutoring philosophy follows a non-directive, facilitative approach.
This requires time to allow the student to discuss their writing, essay, or issues they wish to address during the session.
Tutors systematically and consistently provide learning support services to students in a positive and efficient delivery process.
The learning support services include one-on-one and group tutoring sessions with students in a non-directive, facilitative approach; assisting with computer-based, academic tutorials; assisting students with comprehension of course subject matter; conducting workshops on study skills and techniques to show students how to be more successful academically; developing aids to assist students with subject understanding; and providing some administrative assistance to the tutoring center.
Writing tutors will perform these duties both online and in-person at our main campus and satellite locations.
