ICAN housing provides housing and housing support services to the homeless with a focus on those struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. We help place families and individuals into housing sites, some owned by ICAN and some privately owned, in Stark County. We are looking for motivated individuals that would like to serve on our board of directors and help ICAN Housing serve some of Stark County's most underprivileged individuals and families.
Our Needs: Individuals who have a passion to help others, especially those who are underprivileged. Time commitment is small which includes attendance at monthly board meetings (the 4th Tuesday of each month, 1-2 hours per meeting) and potentially additional time for temporary sub committees. Desired knowledge/experience include any of the following: local government, homeless shelters, strategic planning, talent development, resource management, grant administration, fair housing, and/or government housing programs. ICAN housing is a Community Housing Development Organization and, as such, must maintain at least one-third of governing board's membership for residents of low-income neighborhoods, other low-income community residents or elected representatives of low-income neighborhood organizations - Applicants that meet this requirement are highly desired.
